I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who understands the challenges and stresses that come with a growing family and children. Becoming a therapist was a natural extension of my childhood passions and interests. I’ve always wanted to help others, and originally I thought that passion was leading me into a career as a physical therapist. That quickly changed in college when I realized that listening to others, understanding their struggles, and partnering with them to find a healthy way forward was the biggest way I could help.
I’m passionate about understanding how relationships, society, and internal factors can impact the way children adapt and grow. During my post-degree time as a school therapist in San Diego, I saw firsthand how important developing a stable foundation is for children. My time working and training at the local Children’s Hospital gave me the ability to help children cope with trauma, anxiety, and depression.
West-Mehrer Therapy is the culmination of my experience, passions, and education. There is no more rewarding feeling than partnering with children and families to work through life’s difficulties from the inside out. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and hope to create a safe space for all.
When I’m not working with others, I love spending quality time with my husband and children enjoying the perks of San Diego life –going on walks, finding the best coffee in our city, weight lifting, yoga, and baking. But at the end of the day, my life’s passion is helping others, and I’d love to help your child work through life’s challenges.
